Austin King, beloved son and brother, died Sunday July 11 at only 13 years old. Austin spent the last year of his life bravely fighting brain cancer. He left this world in his home surrounded by the love of his parents and brothers.

The son of Brian and Jennifer King, Austin was born on August 24, 2007. He lived his whole life in St. Charles, IL and attended Thompson Middle School where he just finished 7th grade. Austin was a kind, loving boy who brought joy to his family and friends with his wry humor and creativity. Austin loved the Cubs, dogs and Marvel comics. He loved to draw and write.

Austin was diagnosed with a very rare condition called neurocutaneous melanocytosis at one month old. His parents were told that he likely would not live to be 2 years old but each year he managed new challenges brought by the condition such as seizures and eventually a large brain tumor that was discovered to be melanoma of the brain. It was removed twice but continued to grow back. Austin’s resilience and bravery was legendary as he continued to get up every day and live his life the best he could despite being in pain and side effects from many treatments and medications. His sense of humor and love for his family never wavered despite all of his challenges. He always tried his best at every endeavor. For these reasons he was loved by many, especially his parents and his brothers.

Austin is survived by his parents, Brian and Jennifer King; his two older brothers, Aidan and Liam; his grandparents, Joe and Karen Dix and Harold and Janet King; aunts Tara (David) Osborne, Melinda (Bob) Cochran, Beth (David) Raffin and Dana (Tony) Cosentino; uncle Jeff (Sage) Dix; eleven cousins and his two best friends, his dogs Kylie and Belle.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday July 16, 2021, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 4-8:00 P.M. July 15, 2021,  at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 E. Main Street (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25).
