Ralph W. Mueller born January 9, 1932 to Walter and Alma Mueller in Chicago, IL. Ralph’s family moved to Winfield, IL in 1942. Ralph graduated from West Chicago High School in 1949.
Ralph joined the United States Air Force at the age of 19. He was stationed at Rhein Main Airbase in Frankfurt, Germany 60th Troop Carrier Wing and 60th Medical Troop. In May of 1952. He traveled to Holland where he met the “Bride of his Youth”, Rosina Scutigliani.
After Ralph’s time in the service, he moved his family to Winfield and settled in West Chicago to raise his family. Ralph worked as a printing apprentice in Chicago and eventually began work with Geneva Construction as an estimator.
Ralph and Scuti had an amazing marriage and celebrated 63 years of marriage before Scuti passed in 2017. They had many hobbies together. They belonged to the Batavia Orchid Society and had over 700 orchid plants in their home. They traveled a great deal to visit family in Europe. They also enjoyed many trips to Florida. They were active members of the Lutheran church. They had a wonderful group of friends. . As a couple they gathered with Ralph’s AirForce buddies and his high school classmates for many reunions.
Ralph was a proud vet of the Korean War. In his later years, Ralph spent a lot of time visiting Vets in nursing homes. He was very involved with the VFW and American Legion. Ralph loved Veterans’ Day at Geneva Middle School South. He was able to share his service experiences and mingle with other vets. He cherished his experience in 2018 as part of Honor Flight Chicago.
Ralph is survived by his sister Delores Coon, his sons, Tom (Jennifer), Bob (Rose) his six grandchildren, Jenna (John) Murray, David (Kelly) Mueller, Maddie (Trevor) Fink, Lily Snow, Daniel Mueller, Michael Mueller and Mary Mueller, his 5 great grandchildren, Megan, Luke and Madeleine Murray, Connor Mueller and Elaine Fink, and many cousins.
