Ray was born on April 22, 1941 to Stanley & Ruth (Christensen) Petersen. On April 22, 1989, he married Wanda Horn. He was looking forward to April 22, 2020 when they would have celebrated 31 wonderful years, as they celebrated both their birthdays and anniversary all on the same day.
Ray attended Elgin High School and graduated in the Class of 59. He worked for his Aunt & Uncle at Elgin Typewriter right after graduation until he formed his own business known as Fox Valley Business Systems in 1989. He was known throughout the Elgin community and exceeded his reputation of being outstanding businessman. He worked hard for over 60 years doing what he loved. He was a lifetime member of Fox Valley Saddle Assn. and was President for many years. Ray was a member of the Lions club for several years. He loved horses and enjoyed being outside. Ray took great pride in having the best kept lawn. He was a proud Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Papa. He was always the first to go down the waterslides and rollercoasters with his grandchildren.
He belonged to Seventh Day Adventist Church in DeKalb, Il.
Ray is survived by his wife Wanda; His sister JoAnne Cork; Children: Kris (Scott) King of LaCrosse, WI, Kam (Mike) Dumoulin of Hampshire, Il, Paula (Dean) Goff of Genoa, Il, Victor (Kristen) Young of Genoa, Il
Grandchildren: Leslie, Lindsey and Joshua Goff, Haley, Sydney and Patrick Young, Mitch and Kelly King, Bridget, Pat, Mike, Becky, Rachel, Matthew and Roni Dumoulin.
Great Grandchildren: Nick and Noah Pierce and Benjamin Canard
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, Il. Burial will be at Little Woods Cemetery in St. Charles, Il. Visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
