Martha Susan Brown, 73, of St. Charles, died November 26, 2020 at Delnor Hospital Geneva.

She was born September 1, 1947 in St Charles. The daughter of the late Robert and Dolores Bell, Sue had been a resident of the area all her life, attending St. Patrick Catholic School and Mount St. Mary’s. She later went on to the University of Illinois graduating with a Bachelors Degree in English Literature. She loved the U of I and enjoyed going to the football games as an alumni.

Sue was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend with an excellent sense of humor and a smile that could light up the room. Known as “Grandma Cha-Cha”, she was often found entertaining her husband, children, and grandchildren, laughing and joking with her sisters, or enjoying the companionship of her cocker spaniels throughout the years. Trips to Ireland and her cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin were her favorite destinations away from home.

She is survived by her husband Bruce of 48 years. Two children, Matt (Kara) Brown and Elizabeth (Jeff) Countryman. Four grandchildren, Bethany and John Brown, Cora and Molly Countryman. Also, her sister, Maggie (Tom) Ogden. And a brother, Pat (Nancy) Bell. She is and will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Dolores Bell and her sister, Molly Bordenave.

There is no visitation or funeral at this time. The family will have a celebration of her life later next year.

"I am so sorry that Sue has left this world. I have known her through Saint Pats days and Mount St. Mary’s high school. I didn’t really connect with her again until our 50th high school class reunion. We found we hadn’t really changed that much and we enjoyed sharing stories of our life since high school. My condolences to her entire family. She was a very special person, and I will miss her."
