Sallie Jimenez was born on a warm, Chicago-summer day in 1969 to Maria and Angel Jimenez. Raised modestly in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Sallie was the youngest of ten. She is survived by eight of her siblings after having passed away all too soon in the summer of 2025.
As a young adult, Sallie graduated from Roberto Clemente Community Academy, then completed a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Soon after, she acquired a second degree: a Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Sallie’s educational feats and industrious nature opened the door to a 22-year marketing and editing career in the healthcare space. As a distinguished contributor, she held roles such as National Editor at Gannett Healthcare Group and, most recently, Senior Content Marketing Manager at Relias. She received numerous accolades for her long-standing work on Nurse.com. The most recent was a Digital Health Award for “The 2024 Nurse Salary and Work-Life Report.”
Beyond any professional accomplishment, Sallie was immeasurably proud of her heart of hearts, her daughter, Alexia (Lexi). Together they resided in the Greater Chicagoland with their furbaby, Indy.
Sallie’s many nieces and nephews cherished their Titi’s exuberant greetings. Upon arrival, one expected the tightest of hugs, a gentle pinch on the cheek (followed by an apology), and an eager dispersal of chewing gum or crisp dollar bills. Sallie, “SalPal”, “SalliePallie”, or “Sallie-Wallie-from-the-Valley” could brighten any family gathering. At any moment, she broke out an unexpected, adult joke, a spontaneous dare, an unabashed dance, or all of the above.
Mother, daughter, sister, Titi, and friend, Sallie will be sorely missed, fondly remembered, and forever beloved by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

"My Beautiful, Sassy, Stupendous, Silly, Serious, Sullen, Sophisticated, Successful, Solitary, Surreal, Systematic, Social, Studious, Selective......and that's Just One Letter of an "alphabet" than cannot begin to fully "encompass" how Much she "loved", How much she Is and Will Forever be Loved, How much she gave and sacrificed and Never, Ever for herself. So there aren't enough words to describe her in full X-D Screen. Just know that A big part of me is gone when the Lord received her to her heavenly home. There isn't enough tears in my "ducts" to fully detail how broken I will forever feel.....She IS a "Jimenez" through and through however, She Is, Was and will forever BE my little sister."
Kara from Carrboro, NC
"It’s hard to find the right words. Sallie was truly one of the loveliest people I’ve had the privilege of working with. She brought so much heart to her work and her friendships. I don’t think there was ever a time I interacted with her that I didn’t smile, even when she was handing me pages of edits. She had an amazing presence and an excellent sense of humor, and she is so deeply missed. We're all lucky to have known her."
Diana Ramirez-Ripp from Wheaton, IL

"Sallie was a truly gentle, kind, and compassionate soul. I had the privilege of working closely with her for nearly 20 years, and she leaves an immeasurable space in my work heart. Her presence will be deeply missed at our annual OCL editorial dinners, and I’ll miss her witty and thoughtful Teams messages, her heartfelt check-ins, and the grounding perspective she always brought. Moving forward with Nurse.com without her just won’t feel the same. She deserved only the very best—always—and still does. My heart is heavy with sorrow, but also full of gratitude for the time we shared."
Juan Rodriguez from Chicago, IL
"When I received the call about Sallie, I was utterly shattered. Even now, words fail to capture the ache, the disbelief, the storm of grief and love swirling inside. But I want you to know this: Sallie was extraordinary, and the memories I hold of her are etched in my heart forever. In high school, she was pure radiance—captain of the pom-pom squad, leading with a smile that could ignite a stadium. I still have photos of her in those moments: fierce, joyful, alive, rallying us all with her spirit. She wasn’t just our captain; she was our north star.In college, her brilliance shone bright—but what truly set her apart was her soul. She’d drop everything to help anyone: studying late for a struggling friend, listening without judgment, offering quiet wisdom that felt like a lifeline. Her kindness wasn’t casual; it was sacred.Sallie made people feel seen. She wrapped her intelligence in humility, her strength in grace, and her faith in action. The world dims without her here. For Lexi: Lexi, I pray you feel God carrying you when the weight of loss is crushing. May His peace cradle your heart, His love remind you that your mom’s spirit dances still—in sunsets, in laughter, in the courage she planted in you. As Psalm 34:18 promises: ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.’ You are not alone. Her light lives in you.”For the Family: I’m holding you all close in prayer, asking God to soften this sorrow with moments of grace. May memories of Sallie’s laughter, her selfless love, and her unwavering faith be a balm. She was a gift to us all—and her legacy of kindness will never fade. With tears, love, and deepest sympathy, may God bless us all. ✝️🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️"

"I was shattered to hear the news of Sallie’s untimely passing. Dearest Lexi- you do not need me to tell you how immensely proud of you your mother was and is. You were her light and her life’s joy. She was kind, caring, smart, and successful. Her smile completely lit up a room. She touched so many people both personally and professionally. Every person who was lucky enough to know her is better for it, including me. I will carry her in my heart always. My deepest sympathy to all who loved her."

"Today we said our farewells but tonight I hope to dream of you. Your smile, laugh, humor, love and light replayed all day in my mind. As you watched us grieve, laugh, hug and show up for one another, I felt your presence getting us through the day. Painful as it is not having you I look forward to the day to hug you again. You will continue to live on through us. Your love for us and our love for you will never die because you have touched the depth of our soul. Thank you for being such a positive role-model, a loving aunt, and wonderful human. If God needed you more than we need you, He picked the best human being for his Kingdom. Love you titi Sallie and I look forward to the day see each other again."

"I was so sad to hear of Sallie's passing. I had the privilege of working with Sallie back in 2019-2020. She was a member of a team I briefly led. The role and subject matter were new for me but I thoroughly enjoyed the assignment. As sometimes happens at large companies, I was asked to take on a different role only a few months after starting. As I transitioned away from Sallie's team, I received an unexpected and heartfelt note from Sallie indicating her gratitude for my work and approach. It isn't every day that an outgoing leader (especially an interim one) receives feedback like that. I continue to cherish Sallie's words, which exemplify her quiet, thoughtful, and kind personality. My heart goes out to Sallie's daughter Alexia and her extended family. Please accept my deepest condolences."
Brenda from Batavia, IL
"I was fortunate to work alongside Sallie in a Nursing Spectrum shared office in the early 2000s. Although we grew up in neighborhoods separated by many miles and were influenced by different cultures, we became fast friends and confidants and understood each other almost intuitively.Sallie always cared about how OTHERS were doing first and foremost. When my family experienced a devastating illness in the summer of 2005, Sallie was right there for me on every level. And even though I was trying my best to keep up with my work throughout that awful summer, I am certain that Sallie was quietly picking up the slack in the background without mentioning it. That was Sallie.Sallie's bright eyes, smile, and love for her family are engrained into my memory forever. I am envisioning her serving up big helpings of her delicious flan to all of her departed loved ones."
Jorge Camacho from Bethlehem, PA
