Dr. Hunter Limoges Gilmore, age 59, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at Northwestern Hospital in Geneva, Illinois, surrounded by his devoted wife, children and family, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Born on May 24, 1966, Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. Hunter lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family and community. He was a proud and long-term civil servant beginning his career on the police force in Carol Stream, Illinois, where he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of the people he served. After retiring as a Commander in Carol Stream, he continued his commitment to public safety as the Chief of Police in a small town in Wisconsin.
Hunter was deeply committed to education. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice, and went on to achieve a Doctor of Education granted with the Highest Honors doctrinal studies in education, a testament to his discipline and lifelong pursuit of knowledge
Hunter was also a driven entrepreneur, owning many businesses, including a private investigation company, and a successful Amazon DSP business. His passion, integrity, and leadership extended far beyond his professional life.
Hunter’s greatest joy came from time spent with his family. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Pamela, who cared for him tirelessly and tenderly through every moment of his illness. He was the proud father of Frances, Anthony, Joseph and Nicholas, and the adoring grandfather of Vivian, Fiona, Emilia, Sophia, and a grand puppy Cassie.
He is also survived by his mother Kathi Limoges, his father Gregory Gilmore, and his uncle Dr. Richard Limoges, brothers Bart (Bridgett), and Matt (Kathy) Gilmore, along with many nieces and nephews, who will remember him with love, admiration and deep affection.
A man of many passions, Hunter loved sports, music, boating, fishing, firearms, and spending joyful moments with his granddaughters. He was also an avid collector of many things. A skilled craftsman, he found joy in building, fixing, and creating with his hands, leaving behind many beautiful things to remember him by for generations to come.
The Gilmore family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to John, the owner of Yurs Funeral Home in Geneva, Illinois for his kindness and unwavering support during this difficult time.
