Martin Edward Magera, age 82, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away on January 30, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Eleanor and Richard Magera.

Martin was an accomplished engineer, and lifelong maker and problem-solver. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology and went on to work as an Electrical Engineer for Underwriters Laboratories, where he dedicated over 41 years of service.

From an early age, Martin learned to work on cars alongside his father, a passion that led him to race cars in his younger years. His love for building and engineering followed him throughout his life. He spent countless hours in his garage working on cars, boats, and motorcycles, including the remarkable achievement of building a Bugatti from scratch and constructing a 22-foot sailboat. His hands were rarely still, and he found great joy in creating and fixing things.

Martin also loved the outdoors and cherished time spent camping and fishing. He took his family on many trips, creating lasting memories.

A man of faith, Martin was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst, IL, where he sang in the choir, served as an usher, and was a member of the church council. His faith and service were important parts of his life.

He is survived by his former spouse Roberta Magera of Grayslake, IL.  daughters, Christine (Jerry) Rooney of Bartlett, IL and Alicia (Kel) Williams of Phoenix AZ, and his son, Mathew (Lane) Magera of Pittsburgh, PA,  his sister, Dorothy McLean of Tucson AZ; grandchildren Hailey and Jackson Woynerowski, Brody and Cassidy Williams and Skye Magera, and extended family who will deeply miss him.

Martin will be remembered for his intelligence, creativity, and quiet determination. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

Services will be held privately.
