Obituaries

Donald Lincoln Kowalski, age 88, died peacefully in Carol Stream, IL on February 8, 2026.

Born February 12, 1937 in Chicago, to William and Anne Kowalski. On January 8, 1965, he married Nicolette Wenzel.

Donald attended St Bede’s Academy graduating in 1954 and went on to attend DePaul University earning a BS in Accounting and his MBA.  He was a member of the Catholic Church and took great pride in volunteering and ushering. Donald will be especially remembered for his love of teaching, reading, learning, avid train collecting and Master Gardner achievements.  In his final years, he enjoyed keeping up with his grandchildren and hearing about all of their activities.

Preceded in death by wife Nicolette, and siblings William and Louise. Survived by his children Andrew (Patti) Kowalski of Elmhurst, IL, Diane (David) Lockhart of St. Charles, IL, Laura (Nicholas) Zasada of Glenview, IL, and Rachel (Nicholas) Romenesko of Kaukauna, WI and his sister Mary (Bob) Kowalski – Medvitz of Sahaurita, AZ; Grandchildren Elizabeth, Daniel, Thomas, Evan, Mitchell, Heidi, Paige, Lincoln, Fiona, Victoria and Elise.

Visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 9am. Funeral Mass/Services Mass to follow at 10:30am at St. Patricks Parish 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in St Charles.
