Lolita S. Reyes, 93, of Franklin Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. She was born on April 21, 1933, in the Philippines to Alfonso and Valeriana Sayson.
Lolita was the youngest of 11 children and on December 24, 1960, married Augusto Reyes Sr., in Manila, Philippines.
Lolita earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree in the Philippines. She courageously left her homeland in 1972 after receiving a nursing work visa to the United States then later became a proud United States citizen embracing opportunities her adopted country offered while never forgetting her Filipino roots. She worked countless days and hours initially in Arkansas then later moved to Chicago, where her compassion, kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of many patients and families. An active member of the Young at Heart Club Chicago, she eventually retired from Cook County Hospital in 1993. Outside of her career, she found great joy in traveling. She especially loved going on cruises , where she delighted in visiting new places, making memories with family and friends.
Lolita was a devoted mother and grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her family. Her family was the greatest joy of her life and she took immense pride in watching each generation grow. She is lovingly survived by her children, Theresa Miles; Carina (Didier) Nicholas; Angie (Vince) Freitag; Marissa Reyes (Erik Bing); and Augusto Reyes Jr. She also leaves behind eleven cherished grandchildren: Kayla and Jason Miles; Gabriella and Mya Nicholas; Isabella, Spencer, and Lauren Freitag; Travis and Audrey Bing; and Jackson and Dylan Reyes. She is further survived by many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death, by her husband Augusto Reyes Sr, along with her parents, Alfonso and Valeriana Sayson; and 11 older siblings.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, Illinois 60134.
