Alice Irene Rasmussen, 80 years old, of Elgin, Illinois, died peacefully on Saturday evening, July 30, 2022.

A visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home (1771 W. State Street Geneva, IL 60134) on Monday, August 8th to celebrate her life. Visitation is from 3pm to 7pm with a memorial service beginning at 5:30 pm.

On December 31, 1941, Irene was born as the second of four children to Donald Ellsworth and Leona Henrietta Simmerman in Chicago, Illinois. Irene graduated from Morton East High School and spent the majority of her life caring for her four sons and working as a realtor. Irene passionately loved her family, raising her sons and being involved with her grandchildren. Irene’s family was a center stone in her life; she was frequently seen playing cards with her grandchildren, teaching others about her history and visiting with her sons. She also loved taking care of her rose garden and would spontaneously take a road trip to visit friends and relatives. She loved warm weather and had a strong faith, knowing her mother “saved her a spot in Heaven.” Throughout her career as a realtor, Irene was enthusiastic about meeting new people and building connections with others. Finding families their dream home was just one of the many ways Irene built close-knit communities and made a difference in the lives of others.

Irene joins her mother and father, three brothers and a Niece (Ernest, Boyd, Morris and Reenie) Simmerman in heaven.

She is survived by her four sons: Thomas A. and Julianne Rasmussen, David W. and Debra Rasmussen, Donald L. and Erica Rasmussen and Kevin S. and Candra Rasmussen and her nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren

"Rest in peace my dear friend! I have so many fond, and fun, memories of our high school days together. And as we got older, and you married, sweet Tom was born and you honored me by allowing me to be his Godmother. You were so blessed with a wonderful family and I'm so grateful that you had 80 years with so much love. Sweet thoughts of you always. your friend forever, Pat"
