Barbara A. Epifano passed away on Saturday September 18th, 2021 at the age of 87. She was greatly loved by her husband, daughters, son-in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The daughter of Elmer and Alice Rolfs, Barbara was born on January 8th, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 19, she married her high school sweetheart Daniel John Epifano. In 1954, at the age of 20, she had her first daughter Debbie. Daniel and Barbara welcomed their second daughter Susie 18 months later.
Growing up, Barbara had a passion for riding horses. Her father owned a grocery store and as a young child Barbara enjoyed selling the penny candy to the store patrons . Barbara was a strong believer in education and graduated from Steinmetz High School and attended Northern Illinois University.
Barbara had a knack for working with numbers which turned into a professional career. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement at the age of 50. During her retirement, Barbara enjoyed playing tennis and golf, boating and traveling the world. She loved sharing memories of summers spent boating with family and friends on Lake Michigan.
Barbara lived in Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and most recently St. Charles, Illinois. During her retirement she became a snow bird and split her time between Huntley, Illinois’ Sun City community and Venice, Florida.
Barbara was known for her being very generous and loving. She was always there to support both her family and friends. Her grandchildren adoringly nicknamed her “Sparkles” because of her gravitation towards elegant and shimmery clothing and her dazzling personality
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, and her daughter, Susie. Barbara was survived by her daughter Debbie (Gene) Payne; her four grandchildren Lindsey Loeschen, Danny Loeschen (Kristin), Jessy Porstner (Nick) and Tera Davis (Ryan). She also had five great grandchildren; Rylan, Raegan, Poppy, Lily and Austin.
