Edward Finnerty, 80, died Thursday October 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

The son of the late Stephen and Anne (Ryan) Finnerty. Edward was born on January 2, 1944, in Chicago. On September 14, 1968, he married Nancy Irene McCormack at St. Eugene Catholic Church in Chicago.

Loving and devoted father of Michael (America) Finnerty and Ryan (Danielle) Finnerty. Proud grandfather of Lucille, Jack, Matthew and Aiden Finnerty.

Dear brother of the late Eileen (late Joseph) Ambrose, late Mary (late Robert) Cribben, late Patricia (late Albert) Scheck. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Edward was a proud member of Local 143 International Union of Operating Engineers. Edward was a loyal employee for over 30 years for the Chicago Board of Education.

Catholic funeral mass will be held at 10:30am, Friday November 8, 2024 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 215 Thomas More Dr. Elgin with a 9:30am visitation prior to mass. Internment will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines. Friends and family will gather for visitation from 4-8 pm on Thursday November 7, 2024 at Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva 1771 W. State St. Geneva. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee. 38105
