Eleanor J. Barba (nee Timpe), 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at The Landings Senior Living in Batavia, Illinois.

She was born on May 7,1930 in Detroit, Michigan, to Charles Walter and Jeanette Louise Timpe. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Eleanor excelled in school, played tennis, traveled and sang in choral groups such as Chicago’s prominent Musichorale and The Dorian Ensemble. She shared her beautiful soprano voice for over 70 years at weddings, concerts and events. Prior to moving to The Landings, for 16 years she enjoyed an enriching, active life in Elgin’s Del Webb Edgewater community. With her fun-loving spirit, she always looked forward to family gatherings, holidays, and travel, all of which included her favorite beverage – hot tea, in a teacup.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, and brother William Walter Timpe. She is survived by her beloved children Kimberly (Stephen) Gorney and Dr. Kenneth (Tamara) Barba; grandchildren Maxwell (Kaylee) Barba, Madison Barba, Megan Barba, and McKenna Barba; brother Richard (Evelyn) Timpe; sister-in-law Janice Timpe; and many dear nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will take place from 9 am to 12 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at   Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva, 1771 West State Street (Route 38), Geneva, Illinois.
