It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Koczka announces her passing on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 at the age of 81 years old. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Hungary on March 15, 1941 and traveled to America in her teenage years where she resided in Chicago, IL. She then decided to start a family where she began her next stage life in the suburb of Wood Dale, IL. During this era, she worked as a dental assistant for over 30 years and raised her two sons. She enjoyed the many years of watching her boys play hockey, raising their dog Duchess (Vizsla), raising their cat that then had kittens, and endless trips to their summer home in Hayward, Wisconsin. She also loved traveling to the beautiful state of Florida, alongside the many other trips that she made.

During her later years, she moved out to Geneva, IL to be closer to her family. She instantly fell in love with the atmosphere of this town, especially 3rd Street. She enjoyed making homemade Hungarian dishes, going out for ice cream, visiting the coffee shop and early mornings with tea while watching the wildlife in her backyard. While her grandchildren were growing up, they always went for sleepovers, she took them to the park and attended their sporting events (primarily hockey and soccer). She also loved her grand-dogs. Her hobbies included: bike rides and long walks along the river, reading magazines, planting the most beautiful flowers, attending local fests, car shows, the casino and leisurely shopping.

She never failed to miss a birthday, holiday, graduation or any event in that matter. She was always there early with a dessert, card, balloons and flowers.

Survived by her 2 sons, Joseph (Olga) and Richard (Jeanie) and her 4 grandchildren: Bryan, Morgan, Alec and Nicole. She also leaves behind her beloved friend, Ross.

Visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. Geneva, IL 60134 Saturday, May 14th from 1 PM – 3 PM followed by a service at 3 PM.

Donations in Elizabeth’s memory can be made to your local animal shelter. She loved any and every animal.

Condolences

Lorie & Horst Heck from Carol Stream, IL

"We were so very sorry to hear of Elizabeth’s passing. Our condolences to her sons Joey and Richie and their families. We were neighbors in WoodDale for 27 years and kept in touch after we moved. She loved her grandchildren and talked about them often. As sad as Olga’s phone call was, I was so appreciative that she let us know. God Bless. Lorie & Horst Heck"
