Obituary for Emily Irons Rogers
Emily Irons Rogers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt,
and friend, passed away on June 30, 2026 at the age of 86. She will be remembered for
her love of family, her strength, and the meaningful life she built with those she
cherished most.
She was married for 59 years to her beloved husband, Robert W. Rogers Jr., who
preceded her in death. Together, they created a lasting legacy of love, devotion, and
family.
She is survived by her children, Laura Rogers and her partner, Dominic Loriggio; Robert
W. Rogers III and his wife, Joanna; Mary Rogers; and Doug Rogers and his wife,
Shannon.
She was a proud grandmother to Meredith Kott and her husband, Joseph; Robert W.
Rogers IV and his wife, Kelsey; Alexa Wilde and her wife, Taylor; and Nathan Rogers
(Christina Balasis). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Kennedy and Kanela
Kott; Robert V and Winnie Rogers; and Ariana Rogers.
She is also survived by her sister, Vicki Walsh, and her husband, Timothy; her sisters-in-
law Edith Irons and Linda Martin, as well as nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Bruce Irons.
Emily made her home in Geneva, Illinois, where she loved the community and the many
friendships she built over the years. She worked for Welcome Wagon for many years,
greeting new residents and introducing them to the town she was so proud to call home.
Her work reflected one of her greatest gifts: a genuine love of meeting people, making
them feel welcome, and celebrating the place she loved.
She enjoyed an active social life with friends, playing Mahjong and Bridge, as well as
Paddle Tennis and golf. Emily also loved reading and attending Book Club, where she
enjoyed thoughtful conversation and connection with friends. She took great interest in
the Riverwalk project and the efforts to improve Geneva’s parks. She enjoyed attending
theater performances, programs at the Geneva Historical Society, and P.E.O. meetings,
always finding meaningful ways to stay connected to her friends and community.
Some of her happiest times were spent during summers with her family in Door County,
Wisconsin. There, she and her husband, Bob, enjoyed outdoor concerts, boating, bird
watching, and quiet evenings watching the sunset with Old Fashioneds in hand. These
cherished traditions became lasting memories for her family and reflected the joy she
found in simple moments shared with the people she loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Herrington Inn on August 7th from 3:30pm-
6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Geneva Historic
Preservation Commission, if desired.  For further information call Yurs Funeral Home Geneva. 630-232-7337
