Francis Ronald DeWindt, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14th, surrounded by his loving family.  He will be eternally loved and missed by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.

Frank was born June 13th, 1940 in Sparta, WI to Francis and Evangeline DeWindt.  He grew up in Broadview, IL until the age of 16 when he went to live with his grandparents in Oconto, WI, so he could learn to drive as his dad wasn’t too keen on the idea of him getting a driver’s license.  After graduating from Oconto High School, he moved back to Broadview, where he met and fell in love with Sandra Joy Hands.  They married on June 29th, 1963 and moved to Schaumburg, IL where they raised their two daughters.

After a successful career working for ComEd as a crew leader, he retired in 1995 enjoying many winters in St. Petersburg, FL.  He was also a businessman, owning and operating Town and Country Liquors in Broadview from 1976 to 1984.

He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, attending many games as both a kid and an adult.  Frank had a knack for finance.  He loved to tinker with his investments and talk stocks with anyone who would listen.  Most of all, Frank loved and adored his family.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughters Laurie DeWindt (Bill Neutz) and Lisa (Alan) Conrad, grandchildren Matthew Conrad and Jenna Conrad, brother Dennis (Susan) DeWindt, sister-in-law Lynda DeWindt and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Evangeline DeWindt, brother Gary DeWindt and sister Sharon DeWindt.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on June 5th from 9 to 10:30 A.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St., Geneva, IL, followed by a church service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Rd., Geneva, IL.  Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).

The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed using the link below.
