- Funeral
On Tuesday, November 1, Francis (Frank) Eugene Anderson passed away at the age of 85. Frank
was born July 28, 1937 and was dedicated to his longtime partner-in-crime, Mary Howard for
53 years.
Growing up in Franklin Park, Frank had a challenging childhood stricken with many hardships.
After his parents passed away in his youth, caring for his siblings fell to him. He took his
responsibilities in stride, never complaining. Frank was incredibly generous. He was someone
you could call on no matter what the time of day or the task at hand. He would respond, no
questions asked. His generosity has reached countless people throughout his life.
Frank eventually bought a home in Elgin where he would live for the rest of his life. He worked
for Air Express International for 40 years. Anyone who knew Frank (or visited his home), knew
his greatest passion in life was cars. Frank’s home was dedicated to the old cars he loved. He
collected magazines, model cars, car parts, and even the cars themselves.
In addition to loving cars, Frank was known as a charismatic storyteller. When spending time
with Frank in his garage working on cars or sitting around his kitchen table, it was captivating to
hear him tell stories from his childhood, his time in the Marines as an expert shooter, the fun he
had in his younger years drag racing cars on Grand Avenue, or his travels looking for the perfect
’40 Ford coupe.
Frank lived his life the way he wanted and could regularly be heard saying, “just another day in
paradise”, “going ninety miles an hour down a dead-end road”, and his signature catchphrase,
“do something bad”. He will be greatly missed, but will always be remembered for his
captivating stories, loving spirit, and kind heart.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Donna and Francis, his siblings Jerry, Zora, and
Donna, his daughter Susan Gospodarek. He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Mary Howard,
ex-wife Donna Williams, brothers George (Diana) Gandsey, Ollie (Nicolette) Gandsey, and Steve
(Lorna) Gandsey, children Sherry (Jeff) Anderson, Frank Anderson, and Joe Anderson, and
several cousins, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and lifelong dear friends.
Open viewing at Yurs Funeral Home (1771 W State Street, Geneva, IL, 60134) will be on Sunday,
November 6 th 12-2pm immediately followed by a service.

"Frank and I worked together for AEI from the day I was hired in March of 87 till he retired. He was special man and I was a better person for knowing and working with him. In many ways both Frank and Mary were my work parents. Always looking out for me even when I didn’t know it . Thank you Mr. Anderson. I will never forget you. Scott"
