Fred Borger, 81, of Batavia, IL passed away suddenly on May 26, 2022, after a quiet dinner with his family. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 58 years, Jeanne, his daughter Jann Curtis, grandsons Bram and Rory Borger-Johnson, granddaughter Rayna Curtis, his brother James Borger, and sister Ellen Monsma.  Fred and Jeanne were childhood sweethearts meeting at the Hope Reformed Church in Chicago where their families were active members. They married on August 8, 1964, and eagerly welcomed their first daughter Jodi in 1967 and Jann in 1970.

Born in Chicago on May 20, 1941, Fred was the oldest of 3 siblings. He graduated from Roosevelt University in 1965 with a degree in Chemistry. He worked for Armour Dial/Armour Pharmaceutical for nearly 40 years and then as a Senior Analytical Chemist in research and development for Blythe Industries.  Fred’s knowledge transcended his formal education though, as he was the go-to-person for mechanical questions, household problems, and the one you sought out in any sticky situation.

Visitation is at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton, Geneva IL at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022, followed by a memorial service at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save the Children, PO Box 97132, Washington DC 20090-7132, or Bernie’s Book Bank, an organization that provides books for under-served children in Chicago, 917 N. Shore Drive, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.For more information, please call Yurs Funeral Home Geneva, 630-232-7337 or visit us at www.yursfuneralhomes.com
