Gayton Paul Schero “Mr. Gates” Past away peacefully on 10/9/18 at the age of 83. Gayton is survived by his 4 children Carl (Dianna) Schero, Laura Schero (Steve Creed), Dan (Anna) Schero and David (Serena) Schero. Gates will be fondly remember by his 6 grandchildren Melissa Schero, Mallory (Nathan) Greuel, Audrey, Christopher, Michael and Dominic Schero, 2 great grandchildren Chase & Harper Greuel, his former wife Marie Schero, his sister Roxanne (Curt) Blanchette, his Nephew Rick (Rhonda) Blanchette, and Niece Wendy (Rich) Kato along with his great nephews . Gayton was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Estelle (Bara) Schero, and Nadeane Clark Westphal. Gayton was born in Chicago in 1935 and lived most of his adult life in the city. Gayton worked at the Milwaukee Railroad for 44 years and had held many different positions through those years. Gayton also owned his own barber shop and enjoyed cutting hair for his family and friends. When Gayton wasn’t working he spent time cleaning and customizing his cars, and was also an avid bowler. He had developed a love of cars at an early age. During his early adulthood he enjoyed racing his mustang for SCCA (Sports Car Club of America ) at Road America, and numerous other locations. Mr. Gates had lived life with a great work ethic, something that he has passed onto his children. He was the type of person who never complained and was always willing to give the shirt off of his back to someone in need even if it meant going without himself. Mr. Gates lived life to the fullest, he always made sure that his family and friends were taken care of before he would have a good time. Where ever he would go, he would seemingly be the most interesting man in the world. He embodied confidence, charisma, and kindness; a life that any single man would of envied and a married man would have been jealous of. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. with funeral services at 2:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home 1771 W. State Street (Rte 38) Geneva. |
