George Scarpelli, 91, died Monday, March 31, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Phyllis and Nick Scarpelli, George was born on February 23rd, 1934, in Oak Park. George served in the U.S Army from 1956-1958. He had a love of cars, especially his 1973 Mach 1, which he used to love to take to car shows and cruise around in.
Survived by his daughter Felicia (Peter) Ferrier, and sons Nick Scarpelli and Joey LaMothe; five grandchildren- Felice Jernstad (nee Ferrier), Peter Ferrier Jr, Joseph Ferrier, Alexis Griffis, and Henry Griffis; one great-grandchild, Sophia Jernstad; his dear sister Susan (Pascal) Larry (nee Scarpelli), and many amazing nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Griffis (nee Scarpelli), parents Phyllis and Nick Scarpelli, and his dear siblings Joseph Scarpelli, Lucille Birdsall (nee Scarpelli), Frank Scarpelli, Marian Matas (nee Scarpelli), Adolph Scarpelli, Raymond Scarpelli, and Rosalie Peifer (nee Scarpelli).
A visitation will be held for George on Friday, April 4th, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 West State Street, Geneva. Burial and graveside services will take place the following morning at 10:30 A.M. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside.
