Obituaries

Gerald “Jere” Nelson Kieft, age 75, of St. Charles, IL, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2022.  He
was born December 29, 1946 in Elmhurst, IL to his loving parents, Ralph and Alice Kieft (née Nelson) and
grew up in Warrenville.
Jere was married to his wife, Linda, for 53 years before her passing in 2021. He was an extremely
devoted husband and amazing father who will be remember as kind, smart and with a witty, dry sense of
humor.
Jere went to college in FL where he was a gymnast and loved to surf. After earning his bachelor’s degree
in Mechanical Engineering, he worked as a Project Engineer at Elgin Sweeper for many years and later at
GPI Industries until he retired.
He had a passion for cars and enjoyed going to car races and car shows, as well as working on cars and
building car models. He also enjoyed the outdoors, visiting national parks, and hiking.
Jere was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Linda Kieft.  He is survived by his children, Gerald
Kieft II, and Dawn Kieft; grandson, Erik Kieft.
