Helena Wanda Prymek, 73 passed away peacefully at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva IL. Born in Iwonicz Poland on July 31, 1946, Helena was one of Joseph Kenar and Stanislawa (Pyter) 7 children.
In 1968, Helena set out on an adventure to come to the U.S boarding the M.S. Batory a Polish ocean liner(named after Stefan Batory- the Sixteenth Century King of Poland). The ship docked in a port in Canada and from there Helena took a beautiful and scenic train ride to Chicago where she was met with the open arms of her family. She was excited for her new life and the opportunities that were at her feet.
She met her husband Joseph Prymek and was married on April 29th, 1972. Together the devoted wife and loving mother raised 2 children Christopher Prymek and Pamela Prymek. Helena was the matriarch of her large Polish family. She loved to cook meals and bake traditional Polish desserts, always giving them to family or friends. She was very creative sewing, gardening and imaging great gift ideas for everyone’s birthday or special event.
She enjoyed a long 18 year career at Sam’s club in Batavia IL where she was valued and honored for her dedication to her fellow team members and customers. She had a heart of gold and was kind and humble to everyone. To her everyone was “Family”.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Kenar and Stanislawa (Pyter) Kenar. Brothers Kazimierz Kenar, Eugeniusz Kenar, Alina Kenar (Czekaj)Wife of Eugeniusz, Stanislaw Kenar.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Prymek, son Christopher Prymek, daughter Pamela Prymek, brother Wiktor Kenar and sister in law Boguslawa (Maslowska) Kenar, Benedykta (Paliwoda)Kenar wife of brother Kazimierz Kenar, brother Jan Kenar, sister in law Maria (Knap) Kenar, sister Maria (Kenar) Wieczorek, brother in law Wesley Wieczorek ) Kenar, she also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
The family would like to thank the team at Delnor Community Hospital for all the compassion and care they provided. To all of Helena’s family and friends who have reached out and sent love and prayers to help her along her journey. We are forever “Grateful”
