Obituaries

Henry William Speer, 92, of Elgin, formerly of Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect and Brandenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022 at JourneyCare in Barrington.  He was born in Chicago on March 17, 1930 to Henry and Ida Speer.  He left home at age 18 and spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy followed by 35 years in the credit business at GMAC.  He married his beloved wife Marilyn (Hinds) on Feb. 20, 1954 and together they enjoyed 68 years of marriage and raised two children.  Henry was a devoted and much loved father to Kyle Henry (Catherine) of Des Plaines and Jean Marie Imai (Arthur) of Reston, Virginia.  He was the proud grandfather of Lily Speer and Henry Speer and a caring uncle to his nieces and nephew.  He was predeceased by his sister Waldtraut (Salvadore) Oddo and brother Walter Speer.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to11:30 A.M. Tuesday April   5, 2022 at Yurs Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 A.M.  at Yurs Funeral Home 1771 West State Street Geneva.
