Hi everybody! My name is Jackson Lee Miller and I used to live in Geneva, Illinois. I was born almost eleven years ago on October 28, 2013 in DeKalb, Illinois. I was a big surprise for my mom, Sarah, when I decided to come into the world early. Weighing only 3 lbs 10 oz I spent a number of weeks in the NICU, with the distinction of being the biggest baby there! Mom and I made a good little family and she always took such good care of me. I never did all the things that other little ones did. I never was able to call her “mama” or ever take a step or give her a hug. But, according to everyone who met me, I had a smile that would light up a room. My teachers said that my smile brought joy into each day, as I reacted to the music and sounds in my classrooms. My sister Charlotte was always so loving to me, even when she threw stuffed flannel snowballs at me! Mom’s life partner Eric always talked to me when he was cooking, calling me his little cooking buddy. I was in the hospital a lot, getting poked and moved around and having some surgery, but even while having frequent blood draws, I laughed and smiled my way through it all. Over the last few years, my kidneys started to not work so well and that was the final thing that my body could not fight against. Last Friday morning, August 2, mom got me ready for the day, cleaned me up and gave me my meds. Comfortable, I lay back and listened to one of my favorite movies, because my eyes didn’t work either. I got sleepy and drifted off and left my room and my mom and my sister and this life behind. I don’t know how to tell you about what my life is like now, but I can run and jump and see everything and if you all could hear me, I’d tell you – and mom and Charlotte and Eric and my teachers and my bus driver and my grandparents – how much I loved them. You made my life as good as it could be, since my body was just not up to the task. You loved me even though I couldn’t hug you or say “I love you” or get into the troubles that little boys usually get into. Thank you for being my family. Forgive me for leaving you too early but I had another life ahead of me. Remember me and try not to cry too much. I’m flying free!
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, August 17th, 2024 12-5 P.M. at Fabyan Forest Preserve, 1500 Crissey Ave. (Rt. 25), Geneva, IL 60134. This will be a light-hearted affair, with a light picnic lunch provided.
Donation/flowers for his memorial may be sent to: Sarah Miller, 1021 Garden Ave, Geneva, IL 60134.

"It was my joy and honor to help watch over this sweet boy whenever Sarah needed my help in the first few years of his life. All of my friends had to listen to me talk about my moments spent with Jackson. He was the happiest little guy and his loss, so young is heartbreaking to all of us who were privileged to be even a small part of his life. My heart is breaking for Sarah, Charlotte, Eric and all of the family."

"As a member of the Mid-Valley Team where Jackson went to school, I have had the pleasure of knowing and loving Jackson for 5 years- including this summer at summer school. Sarah's heartfelt words describe our little Jackson perfectly. He was a little boy where sometimes you would forget that he couldn't speak or hug because his interactions and feelings were so evident- he made each of us feel as if we were the most important person in the room. His eyes and his smile would light up so big- it was remarkable. While I can't even imagine being in our ABLE classroom without Jackson, my heart is happy knowing he is laughing, running, and playing and no longer in any distress. We love you, Jackson, and we will be here to support your family as long as they need us!"
Kathleen Tomasino from Carpentersville, IL
