Jacqueline Christine (Jackie) Acosta ,19 years of age, passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours of Saturday October 22, 2022. The youngest of 6 kids, she was the center of life in her large family.
The daughter of George and LeeAnn Acosta, Jackie was born January 3rd, 2003 in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was a 2021 graduate of St. Charles North High School where she excelled academically. She was a life-long member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in LaFox, IL where she was baptized and confirmed.
Jackie’s smile would light up a room. She was athletic and participated in competitive swimming and gymnastics in her youth. She always had a way of taking charge in overcoming challenges and obstacles, especially in encouraging others to do the same. Jackie was an animal lover who participated in 4-H and in several Kane County Fair competitions.
Jackie was enrolled in community college courses working toward achieving the goal of becoming a clinical psychologist to help girls struggling with eating disorders and body image issues. She most recently worked as a caretaker of children for local families. She had a heart for abused and mistreated kids. She wanted to advocate and make a difference in their lives for the better.
Jackie had also found her true love and soulmate Caleb Hoagberg, who brought her stability and strength. Caleb’s family welcomed Jackie with open arms and truly became Jackie’s second family.
Jackie consistently professed her deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, Jackie is survived by her (5) siblings: brothers Nicholas, Matthew, Mark (Logan) and John Acosta, and her sister Graciela (Thomas) Menard and her maternal grandmother Ann Okrey, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jackie was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Ronald Okrey and by her paternal grandparents, Sergio and Sara Acosta.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 40W605 IL Route 38, Elburn, IL 60119. Visitation from 4-7 PM, Friday October 28th and funeral service on Saturday October 29th at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to ‘Project Heal’ (www.theprojectheal.org) a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing resources and treatment opportunities to people with eating disorders who lack insurance or means to afford such treatment. This was an issue near and dear to Jackie.

"George, LeeAnn and family, Our hearts are so broken for you all. Jackie was such a beautiful young woman, with a bright future ahead of her. She left us way too soon. Y’all have been on my heart & prayers this past week and I am trusting our Lord & Savior will meet you right now in your suffering and hold you close in His arms and enable you to bear your grief and sorrow. What a tremendous source of joy and hope to know that she is with our Lord, basking in His presence and that one day you will be reunited with her. Sending love and hugs to each of you. "I just read the news and sad to learn her passing. We are praying for your family and comforted in knowing she was a follower of her savior. It was a blessing watching her grow in faith along with your family at Lord of Life Church when we attended same with your family. Though her life on earth was shorter than anyone imagined, I believe she is still smiling down on her family and loved ones until your reunion in heaven."
