Jane Pauline Novak, age 81, of Geneva passed away December 3, 2023. She was born to Henry and Ann (Osuch) Giluk on May 13, 1942 in Jackson, MI. Jane married Richard Novak on November 16, 1963. They raised their family in Elmhurst, IL. where they enjoyed the friendship of many over the years. Jane also lived at Del Webb Sun City in Huntley and most recently at Greenfields in Geneva.
During her children’s early school years, Jane was a volunteer at Conrad Fischer Elementary in Elmhurst and then moved on to work for Reserve Savings in Elmhurst and Dominick’s Finer Foods in Northlake. She was a fixture in her children’s scouting years as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Bluebird Troop Leader. As a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, she was one of the first female eucharistic ministers to serve the congregation. Continually crafty and giving, she sewed and knitted hats and blankets for the Linus Project. Once retired, she joined the always active and fun Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader, skilled at sewing, took delight in travel, but most importantly absolutely loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons Michael (Julie) Novak of Clifton, VA, Brian (Karen D’ Lauro) Novak of Chester Springs, PA, daughter Christine (David) Balaskovits of St. Charles, IL, five grandchildren Mandi (Drew) Costic, Jackson (Sophie McGlothlen) Novak, Allie Balaskovits, Jeffrey Novak, and Joseph Novak, two sisters Catherine (Bob) Nichols, Patti (Dan) Swing, sister-in-law Judy Giluk and many nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her constant companion, dog Amber.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and brother Dick Giluk.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16 in Friendship Hall South at Greenfields of Geneva, 0N801 Friendship Way, Geneva. Please join us anytime between 11:00am-2:00pm to share memories in celebration of Jane. A light lunch will be provided.
