Obituaries

Jean Louise (McLee) Merrill, age 89, passed away December 17, 2020 peacefully at her home
in Geneva, Illinois. She was born in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Edward McLee and
Bertha (Higgenbottom) Morton. She spent her childhood there and then attended the
University of Illinois where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is
survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank Merrill. Her greatest joy and the most important
role in her life was that of mother to her children, Ellen (Robert) McCarthy of Scottsdale,
Arizona, Julie Merrill of Oakland, California, Cynthia (Joseph) Donnell of Long Grove, Illinois
and Anthony Merrill of St. Thomas, USVI.

Jean was engaged with her friends in many interests including Geneva Garden Club, Fox Valley
Panhellenic, Geneva Golf Club, Art Institute of Chicago Art Associates, Investment Club and
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She and Frank traveled the world with friends, seeking new
experiences and hunting for the antiques that they treasure.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
