John W. Weisschnur (JW), passed away in Barrington, Illinois on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
He was born on November 1, 1953 in St. Charles, Illinois to Harry W. Weisschnur, Jr., and Geraldine DeGraw Weisschnur.
John attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and graduated from St. Edward Central Catholic High School. John married the love of his life, Rhonda J. Buie on October 13, 1979. They were married in the Japanese Gardens at Fabyan Forest Preserve. John and Rhonda were happily married for 45 years. They began their life together settling in So. Elgin, Illinois. Followed by many happy years in Elburn, Illinois, and finally retiring in Sycamore, Illinois
John was an avid car enthusiast; not only was it a hobby, but his life-long career. He began his career working in his father’s auto body shop. He transitioned into sales, management and eventually to owning his own business with Tom Sparks at Tom Sparks Chevrolet in Hinckley, Illinois.
JW was a people person, engaging and always had a joke to share, whether it was with clients or his many friends and family members. He had a way of telling jokes that would have the whole room in hysterics.
John is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda of Sycamore; and sisters Kathleen (Paul) Bowling of St. Charles; Nancy McCaffrey of San Diego, California; Mary Ellen (Joe) McClain of Island Lake; and many nieces, nephews; and great nieces and great nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry W. Weisschnur, Geraldine DeGraw Weisschnur, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State Street, Geneva, Illinois from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a short service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
