Joseph Carl (Joe) Debre, age 79, of Geneva, Illinois passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 after a three-year cancer battle. He was surrounded by his loving family.
The son of Michael and Eva Debre, Joe was born on February 23, 1945 in Hungary. His parents immigrated to Chicago, Illinois while he was a young child.
Joe attended St. Laurence Elementary School, Mount Carmel High School, and Loyola University Chicago before enlisting in the U.S. Navy.
After serving for three years, Joe started his professional career in Chicago before meeting the love of his life, Vicky, while traveling in Germany. Vicky moved to the United States and the two were married in Chicago on December 17, 1974.
Joe and Vicky moved to the suburbs of Chicago and welcomed daughters Michele in 1976 and Nicole in 1979, both of whom attended St. Patrick Catholic School in St. Charles and Rosary High School in Aurora.
Joe’s passions included spending time with family, sailing on Lake Michigan, and cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Bears.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years Vicky (Gatti) Debre, daughters Michele (Victor) Lopez and Nicole (John) Griffin, sibling Michael, and six grandchildren – Jonathan and Ryan Needham, and Mackenzie, Matthew, Joseph and Thomas Griffin.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, Illinois. It will be preceded by visitation hours from 9:30-10:30 A.M.
