Laurel Lee Hendrickson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by loved ones in Wayne, Illinois. Born on April 17, 1938, in Minneapolis, to Charles and Evelyn Schall, Laurel’s life was defined by her love, laughter, and vital spirit.
Laurel’s childhood included frequent moves, instilling in her a remarkable ability to connect with others. While attending Lake Forest College, Laurel met her beloved husband, Wayne, at a church event, marking the beginning of their lifelong journey together. They settled in the western suburbs of Chicago and started their family. Ultimately moving to Wayne, they immersed themselves in the community for more than 40 years.
Laurel embraced life with enthusiasm, possessed an exceptional fashion sense, and entertained often with charm and hospitality. Her adventurous spirit led her to ski in Aspen, enjoy her roadsters, and participate in equestrian pursuits. Alongside Wayne, she played a pivotal role in the success of Hendrickson Manufacturing and the Wayne DuPage Hunt.
A devoted mother to two daughters, Laurel was their unwavering cheerleader, attending every event and milestone with pride. She faced adversity with courage, even surviving cancer with grace and resilience. Her love of family and friends knew no bounds.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Sunday June 30th at the Little Home Church by the Wayside, 32W128 Army Trail Road, Wayne, Illinois. A reception will follow at 1 P.M. at the Dunham Woods Riding Club, 33W333 Army Trail Road, Wayne, Illinois. Please dress colorfully to honor her memory.
