Obituaries

Levi C. Bird, 90, of Batavia, IL passed away Monday, April 09, 2018. born on Dec. 23, 1927 in Oelwein, Iowa, he was the son of Jerry Clark Bird and Opal Marjorie Bird.

Levi married Miriam Ann Werner on Sept. 9, 1950 in Oak Park, IL.

Levi was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy on Oct. 3, 1947 and went on to become a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Pioneer Service, William A. Pope Company before retiring from Commonwealth Edison in 1991.

Survivors include his daughter Denise (Jeff) Bartik of Naperville, IL; son Mark (Julie) Bird of Sugar Grove, IL, three grandchildren, Matthew Bird of Chicago, Michelle Bird of Naperville, and Lauren Bird of Machesney Park, one brother Jerry (Naomi) Bird of Hazleton, Iowa and one sister-in-law Evelyn Claeson of Batavia, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, followed by the service at 11 a.m. At Yurs Funeral Home 1771 W. State Street (Rte 38) Geneva.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Holmstad, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, IL  60510.
