Marian Meyer Allen, age 93, of Batavia, passed away peacefully of natural causes in the early morning hours of Monday, December 9, 2024 in St. Charles, Illinois. 

Born on February 6, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Ben and Ida (Reese) Meyer. 

Marian attended Colerain Grade school & High school, graduating in 1949. Marian went on to study at the University of Cincinnati & Wooster College, and graduated in 1955 from Miami University with a B.A. in Sociology.  

She started her career off with Children’s Protective Services in Cincinnati, Ohio as a caseworker and would go on to hold multiple positions in engineering and real estate firms.

Marian would marry her college sweetheart Ronald Allen in 1956 shortly after his discharge from the United States Army, having three children together and settling down in Geneva, Illinois. 

Marian was passionate about her volunteer work in Geneva with public schools, church youth, and her love for horticulture and the Geneva Garden Club. She would take up numerous roles within the Covenant Living Holmstad during the 20+ years in which she called the community home. 

She is survived by her sister Helen Ladd; daughter Ginny (married to Tom) Sylvester and son Ronald Allen Jr.; Grandchildren Matthew (married to Cyrielle) Sylvester; Scott and Ben Sylvester; Great grandchildren Hallie and Ines Sylvester, and many other dear relatives and friends that will miss Marian dearly. 

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Allen; daughter Barbara Allen; brother Dan Meyer; her sisters Ruth Hussel and Francis Edgecomb.

Marian was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Service and interment for Marian will be held privately with family

"I sure admire your mother ,she was so classy and always had words of wisdom. I worked at the Homestead and often talked to her! she would read the news paper everyday and follow the daily events . Rest in peace Mariane"
