Maureen “Reen” Geibel, 74, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022,  with her loving husband by her side.  Reen was adored by her husband, children, grandchildren and their families.

The daughter of Richard and Jeanne Nihleen, she was born on July 17, 1947, in Chicago, IL.  On November 6, 1976, Reen married her greatest love, Ronald Geibel.  They spent 45 incredible years together with a love so beautiful and commitment so strong that, every day, Ron put Reen’s wedding ring on her finger and told her he married her all over again.

Her life will forever be remembered and celebrated by her children and grandchildren:  daughters Lauren (Scott), Deana (Craig) and Amy, as well as son Ron (Barb); and her seven grandchildren – Matt, Ryan, Alex, Jake, Katie, James and Grace. She is also survived by her younger sister Linda Nihlean.

Reen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Nihleen.

When her children were in school, Reen embarked on her own education, receiving a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, summa cum laude, and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She then began a career as a psychotherapist and truly enjoyed being able to help her patients. When she was not working, she loved spending time with her family and traveling—with Hawaii as her all-time favorite destination.

"You were my first childhood friend, dear one. Someday I’ll find you again on a big yellow school bus, and we’ll take a ride together all the way Home. God keep you always “a hui hou”. And may God comfort your beloved Ron with many wonderful memories of the precious love you shared."
