"Our condolences to Michael’s family. I was Michael’s wrestling coach at Glenbard West High School. As a sophomore, Mike beat a couple of juniors to wrestle at 103 pounds and did a solid job. As a junior, the 103-pound position was his and he did well. The best match he wrestled ended in a 2-2 draw with a highly ranked wrestler from Glenbard East. Mike’s draw gave us the margin of victory in that meet. As a senior, Mike showed his true colors. He was challenged and beaten by a junior who went on to have a very successful season and was named to the All-Conference team. Some would have quit; Mike chose to be the leader of the JV team wrestling at 112 pounds and compiled a 9-3 record including a tournament championship. Mike’s sense of humor and his quiet leadership still stands out 52 years later. Our best John and Charlene Beisner"

"I met Mike (the “Carbo” man), at the golf league. From there he invited me to attend the men’s group at church. I’m so glad God sent him my way. He became a good friend, and a great leader. While my wife was dying of brain cancer, he, and the men’s group were always there helping me to keep my faith strong. As I grew to know Mike more, I found his kindness on and off the golf course was always inspiring. Our foursome (Myself, Mike, Phil, and Mike), were a crazy group, but we had a lot of laughs. The “Carbo”man didn’t hit a long ball, but straight as an arrow. Just like his life. He was always a straight-shooter, and one you could count on. His last text to me was, “You were right Steve, someday I will see you in heaven !!” I will miss you Mike, but yes, someday we will tee off again, on the first hole in heaven. My condolences to Jackie and the family Blessings ✝️ Steve Gahlbeck and Donna Levinson"

"So saddened to learn of Michael's passing. Having grown up across the street, Michael was a large part of my formative years. Although eight years older, he always made time for mentoring on everything from guitar to baseball and the finer points of lawn mowing. Michael was the voice of reason amidst the chaos of the 60's & 70's, always insisting on fairness, work ethic, loyalty and staying grounded to core, Christian values. Can't tell you how many times I heard, "Why can't you be more like Michael!?" Nearing retirement I'd been looking forward to spending more time with him if only to let him know what a positive influence he'd been in my life. Much love to Michael's Family & Friends, we all miss him dearly."
