Michael Patrick Burke, age 77, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
He was born September 13, 1944 in Chicago, Il. He was the son of the late Michael and Mary Burke.
Michael attended St. Mel Grammar School and St. Mel High School. After high school, he went on to attend Illinois Benedictine College.
He served in the U.S. Marine Reserves in San Diego, California from 1965 to 1969. After serving in the Marine Reserves, he became a corporate accountant for several Chicago and suburban firms. Michael also enjoyed volunteering his time and talent at the Living Well Cancer Resource Center in Geneva and RSVP in Batavia, providing rides to seniors as needed for appointments.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan; two adored children, Kimberly (David) Friebus and Michael (Kimberly) Burke; four precious grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Michael, and Alyson. He was the “spoiled” younger brother of four sisters, Sheila (Philip) McMahon, Maureen (Jim) Prah, Eileen (John) Harth, and Pat (Tom) Egan. He was also the much loved brother-in-law of Linda (Marv) Haseman, and Pat (Shawn) Blackwell. Also surviving are many wonderful nieces and nephews, who were a big part of his life.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, Geneva, 1771 West State Street (Rte 38) Geneva. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main Street, Batavia. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Living Well Cancer Resource Center, 442 Williamsburg Ave. Geneva, Il. 60134.
