Pamela (Pam) Ann Drinkwine, age 72, of Geneva, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

The youngest daughter of Henry and Florence (Frechette) Mackin, Pam was born 60 minutes after her twin sister, Pat, on January 25, 1950 in Kankakee, Illinois. After graduating from Bishop McNamara High School in 1968, she met the love of her life, Richard (Rick) J. Drinkwine while studying Business at Southern Illinois University. Rick and Pam married on January 3, 1970 and soon after became loving and proud parents to their only child, Dawn. Pam was a dedicated employee at Producers Chemical Company, Sugar Grove, IL where she retired in December 2016 after 32 years.

Pam was a faithful, caring and kind-hearted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She truly enjoyed the outdoors, spending time gardening, fishing, swimming, golfing, playing tennis and traveling to beautiful locations with her daughter. Pam had a great love for animals, especially her standard poodle, Sophie, who was always by her side. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and friends. Over the past three years, Pam rediscovered how much fun ping-pong can be, and played almost daily with Dawn and Pat, until her cancer diagnosis in May of 2022. Most of all, Pam loved laughing and always greeted everyone with a big smile. Pam was a true light in this world and made friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn of Geneva; brother, Michael (Jan) Mackin of Maryland; twin sister, Patricia Hirschtick of Geneva; sisters-in-law, Norma Drinkwine of Wisconsin, Ruthellen (Don) Falstad of North Carolina, Jacqueline Hochenauer of Geneva, Jane Mackin of New Hampshire; brother-in-law, Leonard Greener of Beach Park; loving nieces and nephews; and many other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rick, her parents and brother, Terry Mackin.

Services for Pam will be held privately. The family will hold a celebration of her life with family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pam’s memory to Rover Rescue at RoverRescue.org/help-us/donate/ or Rover Rescue PO Box 4074, Aurora IL 60507. Rover Rescue is a network of volunteer pet-foster homes that saves dogs from high-kill animal shelters.

"Dear Dawn, your mother was always the brightest light in the room. Her personality and sense of humor made her a memorable soul and so much fun to be with. I was so sad to hear she had passed but I find comfort that she is now with your father in heaven. I hope that brings you comfort also and makes your journey a bit easier. She was a special lady and you were blessed to have had her as your mother and friend. God bless! ❤️"

Audrey Drasler from Gurnee,, IL

"Words can't express how devastating it is to lose such a close and wonderful friend after all these years and SO SUDDENLY. We were blessed to have Pam (and Rick) in our lives. They were two people who knew what it was like to run their own business, raise a family, live an honest and hardworking lifestyle and laugh at all kinds of foibles. Thanks be to God that he put Pam in my path more than 35 years ago. We remained close friends until the end, often talking for hours about what we could do to protect our beloved America and the freedom we both grew up with. Now Pam is with Rick and Ed. They're probably fishing in Heaven or enjoying the beach with some chocolate martini's. I miss you girl. I miss Rick. I miss Ed. However nothing can take away the good memories and it won't be all that long before we'll be reunited because we believe. I wanted to post some pictures of Dawn, me, Pam & Ed in Mexico and Aruba but couldn't figure out how. Oh well. We loved the tropics and Pam and Dawn went on to travel back many times after Ed and I could no longer go, so what an amazing tradition. SO MUCH FUN. Dawn, we'll have to carry on the legacy when we have the strength to face it. So may drastic changes. It's so hard to cope with it."
