Patricia Ann Thompson (nee Rush) – 92 years old- Born on December 4, 1929 in Geneva, IL and Died August 15, 2022 in Melbourne, FL
The only child of Thomas and Flossie Rush (nee VanNatta), Patricia lived most of her life in Geneva, IL.
Patricia was a Real Estate Broker for many years as well as a Tax Accountant since the 1960’s, when being a woman in this field was unheard of.
Patricia and her friend/business partner, Lee Olson, opened up Olson & Thompson Accounting in 1985 and continued their business and friendship until they both retired well into their 80’s. When Patricia retired, she moved to Melbourne Florida where her oldest son lives.
Patricia was an avid knitter and crocheter and belonged to the Fox Valley Knitting Guild in St Charles, IL
Every spare moment you would find Patricia knitting or crocheting something for one of her many children or grandchildren and she had more yarn in her basement than the average store has. She loved to read romance novels, go shopping, eating at Red Lobster, and being a care taker to all of her children and grandchildren as well as the many dogs she had in her home throughout her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Flossie (nee VanNatta) Rush, her husband, Oscar Thompson, her daughter, Barby Kay (Forrest), her daughter Holly Fischer (Steve) and her granddaughter Shannon Bruce (nee Brens)(Rob)
Patricia leaves behind her 4 remaining children; her 3 sons – Jerry (Anne), Willard, and Tim (Lisa) and her 1 daughter Sue Brens (George). Patricia also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held Friday August 26th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home Geneva. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 27, 2022 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers because of Patricia’s love for animals, especially dogs – please make a donation in her memory to the Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, IL or to Tails in DeKalb, IL

"We are so very sorry for your loss. Pat was our God-daughter, Julie Parker Jeffries’ grandmother. Pat also did our Taxes for years. One sharp lady! She’ll now be knitting scarves for the angels. RIP Pat."
Linda Grens from Batavia, IL
"To the Thompson Family: I am very saddened by your loss. We in the Batavia Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses missed her a lot when she left. She was quiet but fun when you got to know her. Really sorry I could not come to the visitation tonight, but I am having shooting pains in my head due to an injury and cannot move my head. She would save her cans for my brother Donnie's school for handicapped kids.. That was so nice of her and was appreciated!!!"
Angie Snow from Batavia, IL, IL
"To the Thompson Family: It's hard to know what to say at a time like this, but know I care and that you're in my thoughts and prayers. You are not alone. Sincerely, Angie Snow"
Anne Thompson from Melbourne , FL
"Pat was my mother-in-law for 30 years. She treated me like a daughter and I loved her like a mother. She was kind, thoughtful, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deeply. She had endless love and devotion for her family. Her obituary was beautifully written, capturing the essence of her being. I was blessed to have her in my life. May she rest in peace."
