Philip J. Kalaf, age 56, of South Elgin, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 13. He was born on September 22, 1967, to the late Richard and the late Annette Kalaf and grew up in Streamwood.
Phil is survived by his wife Laura (nee McComb) of 28 years, his children Megan and Ryan, sister Ellen (John) Mast, nephews John and Joe Mast, In-laws Randall and Nancy McComb, Brother-in-Law Kevin McComb, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He graduated with honors from DeVry University and earned a B.S in Computer Science. Phil dedicated so much of his time as a Client Executive for VMware by Broadcom. His trustworthy smile and strong handshake helped him develop so many business relationships and close friendships during his 25 years in the IT industry.
In his spare time, Phil could be found in the gym always pushing heavy weights and developing more friendships. Phil loved movie nights with his family and enjoyed long walks with Laura, snowmobiling with Megan and building dirt bikes with Ryan.
He was a devoted husband and loving father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19 from 3-7 PM at Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva, 1771 West State Street. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284.

"I am so sorry to hear of Phil's passing. Phillip was truly a gentle loving man. I remember when he was born and thought he was the most beauiful baby with a headful of dark curls. He was a sweet little boy and grew up to be a pleasure to be around. He will be missed and I offer my prayers for him and his family, in particular for Ellen and her family. Heartfelt condolences."

"I grew up with Ellen and Philip in Streamwood and we remained friends for our entire lives. At his beautiful mother's memorial service less than a year ago, we shared beautiful memories, and laughter, for hours. No matter how much time, or miles were between us, our hearts remained connected. I am truly devastated by Phil's passing and my heartfelt love and condolences go out to the Mast and Kalaf families. You have my deepest sympathy and unwavering support. Wishing you peace, comfort, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time."
