Richard J. Alesch, 77, of Wheaton, passed away peacefully at Maple Glen Memory Care, Glen Ellyn, on January 25, 2022 after a long journey with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. He was surrounded by family.

Richard was born on February 19, 1944 in Ogden, Utah, to his parents, Richard and Joanne (Griesenbrock) Alesch. He was preceded in death by his brother, Peter H. Alesch.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Alesch; daughter Tracy E. (James) Legner of Geneva, IL; son Steven R. Alesch of Walnut Creek, CA; and two grandchildren, Giana and William Legner of Geneva, IL;  as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Richard graduated from Kent State with a B.S. in Business. After graduation, he married Barbara on December 23, 1967. He soon enlisted in the Army and was active during the Vietnam War. 

After returning stateside, Richard resumed his career in sales. Following his career involved many family moves to Virginia, Germany, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, and finally settling in Illinois. He loved exploring new places and was always ready for an adventure.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who lived his life for his family. He and Barbara were active members of St. John Neumann, St. Charles. He enjoyed serving at church, reading, golf, bowling, petanque, singing, and dancing with his bride. He will always be remembered for his hard work ethic, faith, and love of family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Yurs Funeral Home in Geneva, IL, from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. John Neumann, St. Charles, at 10:30 a.m.
