Beloved Papa Bear of Nicholas (Lauren) Czaja, Anthony Czaja, Thomas, Samual, Gina, Angel & Jessica Cummings, Bella, Carmella & Francesca Rio, Anthony, Kailey and Dino Rio, Jr. Adored Great-Papa Bear to Ava, Olivia & Nico Czaja, Aria Cummings. Brothers Jack (Judy) Rio, Joe Rio, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces & nephews. Robert is preceded in heaven by his mother and father, Joe and Josephine Rio, and his brothers Anthony and Samuel (Christine) Rio.

A decorated Army veteran, Robert proudly served his country from 1965-1971, he was honored with the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, among others.

His love was the strongest love. You learned every moment you spent with him about love, family, and strength. His smile would light up every room he entered. His humor and quick zingers added to the laughter that always surrounded him. He was everyone’s best friend. You always felt at home being around him. Every moment spent with him became a special memory and has a warm place in all of our hearts.

Robert loved Elvis and it’s fitting that this Elvis quote suits him perfectly. “It’s not how much you have that makes people look up to you, it’s who you are.” And he was amazing.
