Robert H. Anderson 81, of Geneva and formerly of Elmwood Park, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 16, surrounded by his family. Known to most as Bob, he was born September 1, 1941 in Chicago as the only child to Lorraine and Robert Anderson. Devoted husband of 51 years to the late Arlene (Miele) Anderson; proud father of five children, Robert (Lisa), Jeffrey (Ann), Dean, Amy (Michael) Turner, and Mark (Juliet) Anderson; caring grandfather of 18, Gabrielle, Jenna, Morgan, Rachel, Elizabeth, Paige, Robert, Julia, Ashley, Natalie, Alyssa, Joseph, Patrick, Drew, Dane, Lauren, Maximus, and Jonathan; and loving great-grandfather of two, Alianna and Jordan. Brother-in-law to Janet (Roger) Dorais and Laura (Doug) Hough, and half-brother to Charles (Donna) Anderson and Kristina Anderson.
A graduate of Steinmetz High School in 1959, he studied architecture at the University of Illinois. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked in Purchasing at Sears for over 30 years and at American Airlines for more than 21 years. Dedicated to his family and friends, he enjoyed playing 16” softball, bowling, cards, and camping at Woodhaven Lakes, along with other hobbies.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, July 20th from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rte. 38), Geneva, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Semper Fi Fund (www.thefund.org or 825 College Blvd Suite 102-PMB609 Oceanside CA 92057).
