Ronald A. Pellegrino age 77 of South Elgin, IL passed away on October 13, 2024. Beloved husband of Kathleen Pellegrino for 43 years. Ron was born on May 10, 1947 in Chicago, IL to the late James J. Pellegrino and Bernice M. Pellegrino (nee Fitzmaurice). He attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park and later attended Loyola University earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business management. He was drafted and proudly went on to honorably serve his country as an Artilleryman in the United States Army. After being discharged, Ron worked inside sales, eventually retiring as manager of logistics in 2017.
Ron was a man that would do anything for his friends and those he loved. He consistently prioritized the needs of others, above his own. He had a great sense of humor, was always modest and sincere but above all was genuine. Ron was an avid runner, competing in several marathons including the Chicago Marathon on multiple occasions. He and Kathy loved to travel but also enjoyed the simple company of each other and their friends and family. They shared a passion for rescuing un-homed and at-risk dogs as they volunteered years of their time to foster, re-home, and raise awareness for shelter dogs through Chicagoland Eskie Rescue. Over the years they provided a loving comfortable forever home to 9 rescue dogs of their own.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Pellegrino; brother Jim “Skip” Pellegrino; five Pellegrino nephews (Jimmy, Danny, Jon, Mike and Tony); sister-in-law Rose Cunneen; two Cunneen nephews (Gary and Matt); and two more generations of nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly. In addition to his human family, he leaves behind his “shadow” and good boy Saseum who will always miss him.
Visitation and services will be held at Yurs Funeral Home (1771 W. State Street Geneva, IL 60134) on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 10am – 1pm with a luncheon to follow at Mio Modo (Francesca’s) Italian Restaurant (200 S. 2nd Street St. Charles, IL 60174) after the service.

Condolences
Peter J Stubberfield from Setauket, NY
"It was a privilege and a pleasure to be a colleague to Ron some years ago as we were both writing final chapters to our respective work histories. Ron was a calm and unflustered character whose reliability and integrity were never in question. Sadly, my experience with many others during my own business career was invariably different. Accordingly, I am deeply saddened by this loss and extend my heartfelt condolences to Kathy and his extended family."
Elaine Russo from Wheaton , IL
"It was a pleasure working with Ron for a number of years at Alcatel. He was one of the nicest folks I have ever had the pleasure knowing. My deepest sympathies to Kathy and family"
