Thomas Joseph Finnegan, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4 (his 85th birthday) at Central Dupage Hospital, Winfield lL surrounded by his family. He was born May 4,1938, in Chicago lL to the late Joseph and Florence (Burton) Finnegan. Tom was a graduate of St. Rita High School, Chicago, IL, and served in the U.S. Army. In 1962 he married Dolores Mangan, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Tom and Dolores lived in Evergreen Park, lL, before moving to St. Charles, lL, to raise their family.
In addition to his beloved wife Dolores, Tom is survived by his 4 children: Maureen (Lawrence) Gabriel, Michael (Nancy) Finnegan, William Finnegan, and Thomas Jr. (Kimberly) Finnegan.
He was the fond brother of the late Geraldine (the late Donald) Benoit. He was the fond grandfather of Douglas and James Gabriel, Claire Wesley) Evans, Annie Finnegan and Lochlan and Declan Finnegan. Tom was the uncle to many nieces and nephews, and had many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on June 8th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Geneva IL. Interment is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip lL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
St. Jude Children’s Hospital or any animal shelter of your choice.
