Dick Naylor unexpectedly passed away at home on June 30, 2022.
Dick was born in Chicago, to Glenn and Genevieve Naylor, on June 14, 1946. Dick grew up in Chicago and graduated from Reavis High School in Burbank, IL. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from NIU and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Dick worked many years in commercial insurance brokerage and risk management. He also worked, at times, as a teacher as well as a real estate agent.
Dick served his country as an Aviator in the U.S. Army. He took great pride in his military service. Dick was active duty for three years and flew helicopters in Vietnam during that time. He went on to serve 23 years as an Army reservist, retiring in 1996 in the rank of Lt. Colonel. Being born on Flag Day it was a rare occurrence to ever see him without an American flag being worn or displayed somewhere on his person.
Dick accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 11 while attending Phantom Ranch Bible Camp in southeastern WI. It was also there that he would later meet Peggy Best. Peggy turned out to be the love of his life and the woman he would marry in February of 1970. Dick and Peggy recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Dick was strong in his faith and loved sharing it with others. His faith was one of his greatest passions. He never missed an opportunity to share with others that they, too, could have a relationship with Christ and that he promises an eternal home in Heaven. Dick absolutely loved his family and friends but he looked forward to the day that he would reach that eternal home. He has now arrived and is, undoubtedly, smiling and pain free.
Dick LOVED to play golf. He played his last round on Thursday just hours before he left us. He remained active and was always on the move. Dick participated in many Bible studies throughout the years. This past year he became very involved with the St. Charles Veteran’s Center. The center is made up of four groups: the American Legion, the VFW, AmVets, and Vietnam Vets. Dick served as one of their Chaplains. His duties included visiting veterans at their homes or assisted living facilities as well as driving them to various appointments. He loved helping and serving his fellow veterans.
Dick is survived by Peggy, his wife of 52 years, as well as their four adult children and their spouses: Scott(Mary) Naylor, Steve(Jessica) Naylor, Tim(Jennifer) Naylor, and April(Joe) Howard. Dick is also survived by his 16 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was so proud of every single o(ne of them. He is also survived by his sister Sandie(Robb) Rapp-Bay, his brother Dan(Georgene) Naylor, his 93 year old maternal aunt, Babe Marcetich, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brother, Howard(Bud) Naylor.
Dick was a passionate and loving person who will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he had a part in. He lives on in the hearts of countless family and friends.

"What a privilege it was for me to do 10 weeks of Rooted group meetings at Chapelstreet Church this Spring with him & Peggy, to get to know his servant heart and passion for the gospel, and hear his wisdom and experience from years of following God, and see this beautiful couple who have been married for so many years… Just from that Rooted group alone, he has had an impact on so many and that legacy will be continuing for years if not generations! 🙌🏻❤️ Thank you, God. "Dearest Peggy, Larry and I are sadden for you to hear that Dick passed away but to full of joy that God has every breath counted for each one of us and that he is with the Savior he loved so much. What a hope knowing that we will all see each other again On June 30th we were on vacation and I had a feeling that someone I knew needed God's intervention so I prayed for that person not knowing who or why. You were on my heart all day and when I got home on Friday I knew then it was you and your family I was bringing to the throne. So many memories or our friendship through the years. I am asking God for peace and understanding and comfort . You are loved !"
