William “Bill” Bychowski, a resident of Geneva, Illinois for 31 years, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020. Bill was 83.

Born in Chicago on March 14, 1937 Bill grew up in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Bill attended St. Celestine Elementary School and Steinmetz high school. After high school, Bill began his career at Coleman Floor Company of Chicago where he served as foreman for all the flooring jobs in the City of Chicago including the venerable Lake Point Towers. Ever the entrepreneur, Bill owned and operated one of Bensenville’s favorite restaurant’s called “Bumpers Sandnich Shop” and after moving to Geneva Bill purchased the building at 315 James Street in the heart of downtown Geneva and built a thriving company called Preferred Custom Mortgage.
Bill was also active in civic life and served on the Bensenville Village Board of Trustees, spearheaded village wide beautification efforts and lead the campaign to develop a Veterans Memorial.

Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary (Means) Bychowski, his eight children, William, Denise (James Allen), Jean Bivans, Michael (Connie), Aimee (Kevin Burns) Bradley, Matthew and Allison. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in honor of Bill’s generous spirit of service and philanthropy he demonstrated throughout his life.
