- In celebration of Bill's life. A memorial service will be held later this summer
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of William Joseph Bloch. Bill passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of Tuesday, January 7th after a long struggle with diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease. He was comforted in his final hours by his close friend Kent Niequist.
Bill was a kind and honest man. He enjoyed a successful career as an account executive and became the owner of James & Thomas, Inc., a Chicago-based marketing and public relations firm. Bill was also very active in his local communities in the towns he lived. In the 1970s and 80s he served as a Mason and became Grand Master of his local Masonic Lodge in Homewood, Illinois. In the 1990s and beyond, he was involved with Shriners International, dedicating much of his philanthropic time to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. He later served as Board Chair of the Illinois Masonic Children’s Home.
Beyond his professional life, Bill was a devoted member of his local church. He began as a parishioner and then continued to serve as an Episcopalian and Sunday school teacher with his late wife, Ann at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva.
To Ann, he was a devoted husband of over 50 years. He is survived by his two sons, David Anthony of Saint Charles, Illinois and Richard Joseph and his wife Diane Louise of Seattle, Washington. Bill is also survived by his sister, Grace Joan of Orland Park, Illinois.
In celebration of Bill’s life, a memorial service will be held later this summer.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, we request that donations be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva, Illinois in memory of William Bloch.
