Obituaries

Bill Toates passed away at 82 on November 12, 2017. He is survived by his children Russ and Blair Toates and Cathy and Jeff Leonard, his wife Barbara, her children Cindy and Dick Dudley, Todd and Lynn Lillibridge, and Craig and Sue Lillibridge, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Papa Toates” or “Old Gray Bill”, Bill adored his family and loved playing with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether he was rolling on the floor with them or watching one of their sporting events.

Bill was born in Berwyn, IL to William and Georgeana Toates. He grew up in LaGrange Park and attended Miami (Ohio) University where he was a member of the golf team. Following graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Kay Line, who predeceased him in 1988. Following her death, Bill met the second love of his life, Barbara Lillibridge and they were married in 1989.

Bill enjoyed bridge, golf and being with his family. He was a long time St. Charles resident and he and Barbara moved to Greenfields in Geneva in 2012, where they had numerous friends and where Bill enjoyed being involved in many of the activities, including serving on various boards.

Besides his first wife, Kay, Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Forrest Macfarland Toates.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenfields, 0N801 Friendship Way, Geneva, IL 60134.
