It is with profound sadness that the family of Ann Marie D’Andrea (nee DeSanto), 76, announces she passed away surrounded by her loving children on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Ann Marie was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, traveling and volunteering to help others.
The daughter of Loretta (nee Muscarello) and Jasper DeSanto, Ann Marie was born and raised in Chicago, IL. In 1963, she married Benny D’Andrea in Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the suburbs where they raised their three children. Once their children were grown, Ann Marie pursued a successful career as a Medical Secretary.
Ann Marie was a dedicated and caring wife and mother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them while instilling the values of hard work and education. She especially loved being a Nonna to her 8 grandchildren…teaching them to cook and bake and playing board games with them. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, as well as volunteering her time at the local food pantry. Ann Marie was a caring, generous, gracious, inspirational, sincere, strong woman who will be greatly missed.
Ann Marie is survived by her son Ben (Jennifer); daughters Nancy D’Andrea and Joann Popiela; 8 grandchildren – Samantha, Taylor, Benjamin, Dylan, Christian, Tristan, Jackson & Emily; brother Joe DeSanto; nieces Christina (Bruce) Mellen and Monica (Anthony) Markas; great-niece Olivia and great-nephews, Kevin and Nathanael.
She is preceded in death by her husband Benny; her parents Loretta & Jasper; and her younger sister, Nancy DeSanto.
Her funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 20th at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church located at 845 W Main St, West Dundee, IL 60118 with Rev. Matthew DeBlock officiating. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann Marie’s name may be mailed to the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry, PO Box 102, Carpentersville, IL 60110 or made online at https://www.fish-food-pantry.org/
