"In addition,She was preceded in death by her father, William Bryan Dawson, her mother, Anna Mae (Meddress) Dawson, her sister, Molly Sanders, her brother-in-law, Jack Sanders; her infant granddaughter, Chantelle Johnson (Allison); her 21 year old grandson, Joshua Caine Johnson; and two other infant grandsons.Ann worked at several places, including the Tiger Den (similar to a DQ) and the cotton fields (which she said she didn't like at all!) during her youth. She came to St. Charles with 3 young children to be near her only sister, Molly Sanders, and brother-in-law, Jack Sanders. She worked for Lee Wards. She met Larry Johnson and they married in December 1966. Larry adopted Vicki Johnson, Patty and Bob Johnson within a year. Larry and Ann had two children, Denise and Chris. The family lived on the east side of St. Charles until 1972 when they moved to 12th Street, where she lived and Larry continues to live for the past 46 years.Ann worked for a company that made eyeglass lenses and at the Checkmate restaurant. She was the receptionist for MidAmerica Bank on the East side for many years where she developed close friends and knew most all the patrons of the bank by name. She worked the MidAmerica Scarecrow Festival entry for several years. She volunteered with the Friends of the Library in St. Charles, even serving on its board. She spent countless hours going to her kids choir and band concerts, parades, swimming lessons, sporting practices and events and all sorts of other occasions. She enjoyed reading, playing Bunco with neighbors, and playing the penny slots! She didn't like to cook - she joked that we kids had enough formaldehyde ingested from McDonald's food that we wouldn't need any when we die!I couldn't ask for a more wonderful person to me my Mom. She taught me many things I wasn't even aware of at the time. How to power through adversity is one I am forever grateful to her for showing me, "Somehow things always work out.:" How to be independent is another lesson I didn't know she was teaching me until I needed it later in life. How to be there for your friends in times of need. How to be grateful with what you have instead of desiring what others have. We were allowed to go outside and play until it got dark outside. When one of the kids needed stitches or worse, she took us to the doctor. She was a Christian. She came from a Southern Baptist tradition to a strict Missouri Synod lutheran tradition. As her daughter, I could write forever about her life as it intertwined with mine. Whenever a catastrophic event occurred in my life, she was always there to support me in any way she could. I can only hope to be someone like her. I love you Mom. I will miss seeing your beautiful face and hearing your laugh."
