Our Lord welcomed Home a grand and elegant lady Barbara Eleanor Walker Neader on January 1, 2020. She was beautiful, kind, generous and loving and is now at peace after a long battle with dementia. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grand-mother and great grand-mother. She loved her family, especially her grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was born on September 15, 1926 in La Grange Park, Illinois to Merton E. Walker and Vivian C. (Burmeister) Walker. She was the youngest of eleven children. She was educated in La Grange Park, and graduated from Lyons Township High School in June, 1945.
After graduation, she worked as an executive secretary at Western Electric Company located in Cicero, Illinois. In 1947, she met her future husband, the late Robert A. Neader. They married in April, 1949 and celebrated 61 years together before Robert’s death in 2010. They lived in La Grange Park for 51 years where they raised their two sons Craig R. Neader of Batavia, Illinois and Brian R. Neader of Loveland, Colorado. She was over-joyed with the births of her four grand-children, Sarah Neader Bonnet (Jordan) of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Garret Neader of Chicago, Illinois Melissa Neader Pozzi (Joseph) of Yorkville, Illinois and Jessica Neader Sullivan (Caleb). Her four great-grandchildren provided her with more joy. Owen Bonnett, Emmett Bonnett, Aubrey Pozzi, and Evelyn Pozzi, were always greeted with a hug and kiss and Barbara’s face would light-up when she was with them.
Her Family remembers holidays with their Nanna, especially Christmas. She would prepare wonderful dinners and spoil them with many gifts. They will always remember and love her for these memories.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the Chapel in Michealsen Center on the Holmstad campus in Batavia January 11, 2020 from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
